Biography

Risa Horowitz's interdisciplinary visual art practice centers on collecting, archiving and endurance. Risa has lived and worked in seven Canadian provinces and has exhibited in galleries including Plug In ICA, The Owens Art Gallery, The Saidye Bronfman Centre, The Mendel Art Gallery, and several artist-run-centres, as well as in the UK and Australia. Risa has received grants from the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts, and was honoured by the receipt of the K.M. Hunter award for excellence in Visual Arts in 2006. Risa was an artist in residence at Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris during the spring and summer of 2008 and began her Doctorate in Visual Art at York University in fall 2008. In the upcoming year Risa will exhibit new work at MKG127 Gallery in Toronto, and at the Dunlop Art Gallery in Regina, Saskatchewan.
